My friend Jessica recently posted a horrific tale of encountering a person born in 1990. Methinks the only thing more horrifying than Jessica's tale might be having to teach a lesson about popular music to a room full of people born between 1987-1990 -- which is what I did every night this week.

To say I felt old is an understatement. At one point, I mentioned that a group came on the scene in 1997 and one of them said, "Wow, that's like ancient history." To my face!!!
The was one brief, shining moment when one especially baby-faced one responded to Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince's Summertime with "That's like what I do back home." If he was mocking me, I wasn't willing to see it.

Oh lordy... I L O V E every one of those songs. Nothing else epitomizes my days at FHS than those songs. Well, that and longing for a Honda CRX (see if your students even know what one of those are!! haha).
Those is a well represented playlist. Sheer awesome.
OMG. Do you even know how close I was to putting BBD's Poison on the CD for that last race? THIS close. "Never trust a big butt & a smile." YEAH! (I did not, however, contemplate putting any songs by the BAND Poisin on the CD. But that isn't to say I won't in the future. Just so ya know.)
Oh goodness, what a great blast from the past playlist. I was of course in college when those songs were popular :) I totally get it with the age thing...my running partner is 15 years younger than me and we manage to run into things she has never heard of....brat pack.....certain movies and songs. I love it!
PS AWESOME Gusty Groove song!! I so downloaded it!! Keep 'em coming!!!
I TA the senior design class and they have teams that they name and one of them was called C&C Construction, to which I said "You should name yourself C&C Construction Factory!" to which I got completely blank stares...
On the plus side, I do pub trivia night with a bunch of 22-25 year olds and I am totally the resident old person who gets the songs from that era during the music rounds...
So funny.
Ok. This past Saturday we went to a fundraiser and get this...KC and the Sunshine Band was playing. Now, I am only 37 - so there was only like one song that I knew. His opening statement was...I was the Justin Timberlake of your parent's time. This is how he is going to look in 30 years!
I so understand what you are saying!
Best songs ever...
